Ben Goldstein, PhD
Director of Data Science
Ben Goldstein is the Director of Data Science for Duke AI Health. He is an Associate Professor of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics with secondary appointments in the Departments of Pediatrics, Population Health Sciences and Duke Clinical Research Institute. His research is on the meaningful use of electronic health records data for predictive modeling and causal inference and has been funded by the NIH, FDA, CDC, industry partners and the Duke Health System. Dr. Goldstein has a particular interest in understanding biases associated with EHR data and how they can impact analyses. A health data scientist, his work sits at the intersection of biostatistics, biomedical informatics, machine learning, epidemiology and implementation science. He has a particular interest in using EHR data for personalized decision making, promoting theĀ Leaning HealthCare System. Dr. Goldstein works closely with the Duke University Health System (DUHS). He serves as the Associate Chief Data Scientist for DUHS and as the co-chair of the Algorithm Based Clinical Decision Support (ABCDS) evaluation subcommittee. Dr. Goldstein received his PhD in Biostatistics and MPH in Epidemiology/Biostatistics from UC Berkeley and his BA in Psychology from Wesleyan University.
