Alliance of Centers of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (ACAIM)

The Alliance for Centers of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (ACAIM) is a coalition of the centers around the world that have a dedicated leader and team within a health center with a focus on artificial intelligence in all dimensions of medicine and healthcare. The Alliance has a total of over 100 centers, including more than 40 AI-focused efforts in pediatric health institutions.

The Alliance for Healthcare from the Eye

AHE is a consortium of healthcare organizations consisting of health systems, physicians, payers, policy makers, regulators, data privacy experts and representatives from industry and government, working to expand access to affordable healthcare and improve clinical outcomes by enabling the ethical and impactful adoption of oculomics in real-world practice.

In the May 2025 news release, Michael Pencina, PhD (Director of Duke AI Health, Duke Health) said: “Duke AI Health is excited to partner with the Alliance for Healthcare from the Eye and its thought leaders in using AI to harness the power of oculomics to advance the goal of making healthcare more personalized, cutting-edge, and accessible.”

PCORI Health Systems Implementation Initiative (HSII)

The Health Systems Implementation Initiative (HSII) is a multiyear initiative, within the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), to advance the uptake of practice-changing comparative clinical effectiveness research results in care delivery settings.

Duke University Health System is one of the 42 health systems selected to participate in HSII in March 2023. HSII Participants collectively represent 800 hospitals serving 79 million patients across 41 states and the District of Columbia.

Duke AI Health serves as the administrative home to support Dr. Richard Shannon’s leadership in the PCORI HSII.
